Driving to the Ellingham Show – Highways update
We are pleased to report that according to Highways England, Hampshire Highways and Dorset Highways, there are no significant roadworks/closures in the Ringwood/Somerley area leading up to and including our Show day.
This is a very useful website with the latest roadworks/closures/diversions for most of England: https://one.network/ If you are coming from further afield you can access your route using this website.
There is a road closure on Hurn Lane from 10-14th August with diversions in the surrounding area. The road works symbol at the B3081/Ashley Drive/Gate A junction is showing the temporary traffic lights we have operating on Show Day. There are no roadworks or closures at this junction.

The Ellingham Show has worked closely with the AA and Chevron Signs to mitigate the impact of our show traffic, however, it will be an August Saturday morning with the usual holiday traffic. The contraflow roadworks have been completed, the additional lane and new road layout has greatly improved the A31 West traffic flow. Please allow sufficient time for your journey.
We can assure you that when you arrive at the showground there will be the usual warm Ellingham warm welcome to greet you. Treat yourself to a cuppa, or a drink at the Hall & Woodhouse bar and enjoy a full day’s programme of activities. The Showground is open from 9am.
Looking out for the yellow AA signs, please follow the directions from your area:
- Driving on the A31 from the East (M3, M27, Cadnam, the New Forest East), there will be AA signage to take you onto the A338 Salisbury slip road and directed North on the roundabout towards Ibsley Bridge and our Gate B
- From Salisbury and the New Forest North turn off the A338 at Ibsley Bridge and Gate B
- From Ringwood and the New Forest South areas using the B3347 Christchurch Road, you will be similarly directed onto the A31/A338 roundabout towards Ibsley Bridge and Gate B
- Driving on the A31 from the West (Wimborne, Ferndown) and from Bournemouth (Spur Road) A338 you will be directed, as in previous years, onto the B3081 Verwood slip road towards our Gate A. Keeping to the left after the roundabout will take you down the slip road. There will be Chevron manned traffic lights at Gate A to help with the flow of the traffic.
Travelling by Bus or Cycling to the Ellingham Show:
Access to the show for Pedestrians and Cyclists is via our Gate E. At the A338 junction signposted Ellingham Church and Moyles Court are the bus stops from Salisbury and Ringwood. Walking/cycling approximately 200 metres towards Ellingham Church you will see, on the bend, the entrance to the Somerley Estate. Proceed straight on – into the estate, through the white gates, walking/cycling a further 500 metres to the Showground East Entrance. Please note there is a small area to leave your bike, however, this is at your own risk.
