IMPORTANT – EQUINE INFLUENZA PROTOCOLS

10th June 2026 by Press Officer

IMPORTANT NOTICE – EQUINE INFLUENZA PROTOCOLS ⚠️

ALL HORSES, PONIES AND DONKEYS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED FOR EQUINE FLU TO BE GIVEN ENTRY TO THE SHOWGROUND

See below for vaccine requirements.  This rule applies in respect of any horse, pony, mule or donkey, apart from any foal less than 6 months old whose dam was vaccinated in accordance with this rule before foaling.  Urgent action is required if your animal is not properly vaccinated and you need to start again as 28 days (21 days between 1st and 2nd and 7 days between 2nd and show) is required. Failure to follow these guidelines means many Shows risk being cancelled.

Due to the current outbreak of Equine Influenza across the UK, we are implementing additional biosecurity measures for ALL competitors attending our event, in line with current guidance from the Equine Infectious Disease Action Group, and our Veterinary Advisers.

Meet the Highland Cows at Ellingham Show!

25th July 2025 by Press Officer

We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new attraction at the 2025 Ellingham Show — Highland cows will be joining us this year!

Known for their distinctive long horns and shaggy coats, these gentle and iconic animals are a favourite among visitors of all ages. This is a rare opportunity to get up close to one of Scotland’s most recognisable native breeds, right here in the New Forest.

You will have the chance to meet the cows, learn about their history and care, and of course, capture the perfect photo with these striking animals.

Don’t miss your opportunity to say hello to the Highland cows — they are a must-see addition to this year’s show!

Straw Bale Racing at Ellingham Show 2025!

25th July 2025 by Press Officer

We are excited to announce a brand-new event for the 2025 Ellingham Show — the Young Farmers Bale Race!

Teams from the Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, and Avon Valley Young Farmers Clubs, along with a special squad representing the Ellingham Show Bursary, will compete head-to-head in the Main Ring. The challenge is to roll a giant straw bale around a course in the fastest time possible.

Expect a fast-paced and entertaining race full of energy, skill, and team spirit — a great showcase of the next generation of farming talent.

Supporting Young Farmers

Each year, the Ellingham Show offers a bursary to support young people in attending agricultural college. Our current Chairman, Tom Hasted, and Heavy Horse Secretary, Molly Peters, are proud to be past recipients of this support.

Join us at the 2025 show to cheer on the Young Farmers in this exciting new event!

AND THAT’S A WRAP – the showground for Ellingham Show 2023 is packed away, until next year!!

14th September 2023 by Press Officer

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our visitors, sponsors, members, volunteers, competitors, traders, contractors. We couldn’t do this without you.

Our Show Committee is a small group of volunteers that work hard throughout the year to organise the show and you never know – until show day – if all the effort has been worth it. After four difficult years, it was great to see the crowds of people arriving on the show ground. Despite the early rain, that didn’t put you off! So ‘thank you’ for supporting the Ellingham Show – we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Tom Hasted
Chairman

August 2023 ~ A great turnout for a full show

11th September 2023 by Press Officer

The crowds returned to Somerley Park on Saturday 12th August for Ellingham Show, one of the South’s favourite summer events.

Tom Hasted, the show’s youngest ever Chairman – and possibly the youngest show chairman in the UK – said, “What a great day we had and thank you so much – both to the thousands who braved the morning drizzle and enjoyed the afternoon sunshine; and also to our brilliant volunteers, sponsors and business partners for all their support. With visitor numbers back to pre-Covid levels, we hope to be able to invest in local good causes and charities to the same kind of levels as in the last decade. “

Tom went on to explain, “This year’s show was back to its traditional, full range of attractions, including: a well-attended Horse Show – over 300 competitors in six different rings; the ever-popular “Just for fun” Dog Show; probably the biggest static display of agricultural machinery and tractors ever seen at Ellingham and a magnificent tractor parade; not just one, but four packs of blood hounds, fox hounds and beagles plus trade stands, Hall & Woodhouse bars, horticulture and craft marquees. Heavy Horses, Classic cars…the list goes on and on, a credit to this very special one day event, organised and run entirely by volunteers.

Make sure you mark “Ellingham Show, 10th August” in your 2024 diaries, when, by kind permission of Lord Normanton, we look forward to welcoming you back to Somerley”.
