The crowds returned to Somerley Park on Saturday 12th August for Ellingham Show, one of the South’s favourite summer events.
Tom Hasted, the show’s youngest ever Chairman – and possibly the youngest show chairman in the UK – said, “What a great day we had and thank you so much – both to the thousands who braved the morning drizzle and enjoyed the afternoon sunshine; and also to our brilliant volunteers, sponsors and business partners for all their support. With visitor numbers back to pre-Covid levels, we hope to be able to invest in local good causes and charities to the same kind of levels as in the last decade. “
Tom went on to explain, “This year’s show was back to its traditional, full range of attractions, including: a well-attended Horse Show – over 300 competitors in six different rings; the ever-popular “Just for fun” Dog Show; probably the biggest static display of agricultural machinery and tractors ever seen at Ellingham and a magnificent tractor parade; not just one, but four packs of blood hounds, fox hounds and beagles plus trade stands, Hall & Woodhouse bars, horticulture and craft marquees. Heavy Horses, Classic cars…the list goes on and on, a credit to this very special one day event, organised and run entirely by volunteers.
Make sure you mark “Ellingham Show, 10th August” in your 2024 diaries, when, by kind permission of Lord Normanton, we look forward to welcoming you back to Somerley”.
