The Society welcomes visitors with special needs and their carers. Wherever possible, reasonable adjustments are made to accommodate people’s special needs. But we must point out that the event takes place on uneven grassland. Weather conditions, before and during the event, can make it difficult, sometimes perilous, for people with mobility difficulties. Wet weather creates problems in the use of walking sticks, crutches, wheelchairs or mobility buggies because the ground conditions can become soft and muddy.
We are keen to provide access to all within these limitations and continually strive to improve so that as many people as possible can enjoy our one-day Agricultural Show. To this end, we welcome feedback and suggestions.
Disabled Parking
Disabled visitors should follow the signs to their designated areas in the South and North Car Parks. These are restricted to vehicles prominently displaying the recognised disability badge. If this is not displayed, the driver will be directed and parked in the general parking areas. As far as possible, disabled badge holders will be directed to park near to the entrances into showground; but this is subject to availability, and it is advisable to arrive early. Limited parking may be available within the Showground by prior arrangement with the Section Secretary. However, no unsupervised vehicle movements are allowed on the Showground between 8:30am and 6:00pm.
Mini-bus & Coaches
Please contact the Show Secretary at least two weeks before the show date to arrange ticketing and parking.
Toilets
There are seven Portable Disabled Toilets with Baby Changing Facilities distributed around the showground within groups of Single Units and also in the Members Enclosure.
A Mobiloo is also available for visitors that cannot use standard accessible toilets. Located near the members’ area, this Changing Place Toilet is supervised by an attendant and includes a hoist, adult-sized changing table, toilet and washbasin. Please note – users are reminded to bring their own slings. For more information: Mobiloo | A Mobile Accessible Toilet
Resting Places
Two designated resting areas are accessible for visitors and their carers. Each provides seating and some shade or cover. We request that time spent there is limited to 15 minutes and that the space should be vacated if someone appears with greater needs.
Rest Areas are located:
Near the First Aid Post (west side of the Main Ring)
